1. Where we collect
FitTrainr is operated by FIT TRAINR LLC, a Tennessee company. We collect sales tax only where the law requires us to. Today that is:
- Tennessee — 7% state sales tax plus the local option rate for our business location. We are headquartered in Tennessee, so every subscription billed to a Tennessee address is taxable.
If your billing address is anywhere else, no sales tax is added to your FitTrainr subscription. Every US state sets a threshold for out-of-state sellers; when our sales into a state cross its threshold we register there, start collecting, and update this page before the first taxed invoice.
2. When it started
New subscriptions: Tennessee sales tax is calculated at checkout and shown before you confirm, starting August 25, 2026.
Existing subscriptions: if you subscribed before that with a Tennessee billing address, tax appears on your first invoice dated on or after September 1, 2026. We do not bill tax retroactively for earlier periods — that cost is ours.
3. How it shows up
- Our advertised plan prices exclude sales tax. Tax is added as a separate line on the invoice, based on the billing address on your account at the time the invoice is created.
- Tennessee tax is the 7% state rate plus the local option rate for our business location, applied to your plan price. The exact amount is shown at checkout and on every invoice and receipt.
- Annual plans are taxed once per year on the annual charge; monthly plans on each monthly charge.
- Refunds include the tax that was charged on the refunded amount.
4. Keep your billing address current
Tax follows your billing address, so please keep it accurate in the customer portal (app → Billing → Manage). If you move into or out of Tennessee, the change takes effect on your next invoice. Entering an address that isn't where your business actually operates to avoid tax is not permitted under our Terms of Service.
5. Tax-exempt organizations
If your organization holds a valid Tennessee sales tax exemption (for example a qualifying nonprofit, school, or government body), email a copy of your exemption certificate to support@fittrainr.com from the email on your account. We'll mark the account exempt so tax stops on your next invoice, and refund tax charged after the date the certificate was valid where the law allows.
6. What we do with the tax
Sales tax we collect is held separately and remitted to the Tennessee Department of Revenue on the state's filing schedule. It is never revenue to FitTrainr.
7. Your clients are not affected
This page is about the subscription coaches pay FitTrainr. Payments your clients make to you through FitTrainr are your sales, collected into your own payment account, and any tax obligation on them is yours to determine (see our Liability Notice). FitTrainr does not add tax to client payments on your behalf.
8. Questions
Billing questions: support@fittrainr.com. This page describes how we bill; it is not tax advice for your own business.
